What is it?

Human trafficking occurs when someone deprives or violates the personal liberty of another with the intent to obtain forced labor or services. Human trafficking can be sex trafficking and/or labor trafficking. It does not necessarily involve crossing a border or using physical force to hold someone captive.

 

What are the stats?

„In 2016, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center reported 1,323 cases.

Between June 2014 and June 2017, there were 409 victims of human trafficking in Contra Costa County.
